Scoop: "Royal Pains" Renewed for Two More Seasons

The doctor is in, and he's not showing any signs of slowing down! USA has renewed its long-running medical dramedy "Royal Pains" for two seasons, TVGuide.com has learned.

Seasons 7 and 8 will each consist of eight episodes, and the show will hit its landmark 100th episode in Season 8. Starring Mark Feuerstein as Dr. Hank, Royal Pains averaged 3.36 million viewers for its sixth season this past summer.



"Royal Pains remains a staple for fun summer TV viewing, and we are pleased to bring back the series for two additional seasons," USA Network President Chris McCumber said in a statement.

"We're extremely proud of both the talent and creative team, who, season after season, have brought to life to these relatable and multifaceted stories, which continue to attract a loyal fan base."



Added Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment:

"Royal Pains was a breakout hit from its first episode and continues to deliver for USA and our studio. It's no easy feat to maintain a real connection with your audience season after season, but Andrew, Michael, Mark, Paulo, Reshma and the rest of team have done that and more."



The two-season order, not unlike "Royal Pains'" last double-season renewal in 2012, also cements the show as one of USA's longest-running series.

"Monk" and "Psych", which just ended last year, each ran for eight seasons on the cable network.
