NBC Dumps Krysten Ritter Sitcom Before it Premieres

"Mission Control" won’t get off the launchpad. NBC is axing plans for its Krysten Ritter sitcom before its even had a chance to premiere.

EW has confirmed THR‘s report that the network is not moving forward with the high-concept retro-astronaut comedy.

"Mission Control" was from the producer team of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, along with writer-producer David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

The 1960s-set comedy was described as a “workplace ensemble in the tone of Anchorman that examines what happens when a strong woman butts heads with a macho astronaut in the race to land on the moon.”

Ritter’s character was further described as “tough on the inside but pretty on the outside, the head engineer who leads the Apollo team at Mission Control at the NASA Manned Space Center.”

NBC ordered a pilot, and then a series. The network then attempted make tweaks to the project, with co-star Michael Rosenbaum exiting the show. One source said “casting issues” were to blame for the stall.

"Mission Control" was generally expected to debut in midseason, though NBC never made that official.

I'm glad;we don't need any more anachronistic sitcoms/TV shows like this on TV.
