I say that because there's no comparing the two. Bill McNeal (played the the late great Phil Hartman) was irreplaceable.

I guess I'll ask out of curiosity. Is there anyone out there who prefers Max (Lovitz) to Bill (Hartman)?

I love Jon Lovitz, but Phil Hartman and Bill McNeal are irreplaceable.

BTW - where's the POLL ?!? - you could've made it anonymous and maybe someone would've voted for Lovitz as a joke.

I didn't think a poll was necessary for this question, lol.

And by the way, I'm not bashing Lovitz. He came in at a difficult time and filled in for his best friend. Max Louis had his funny moments. I'm just saying there's no replacing Bill McNeal. Maybe if the show lasted three more seasons with Max, the question would be valid but as it is, it's not.

I like Jon Lovitz. In fact "The Critic" is one of my favorite TV shows. But no one could take Phil Hartman's place. It was an impossible "ask". But I admire Jon for stepping into the breach and honoring his friend Phil Hartman by helping to keep "Newsradio" alive for another season.
