In the late 80's or early 90's, a young man (maybe 18-19 years old), gets off work late evening (I want to say he maybe worked at a supermarket) and arrives home. I can't remember if he came in the house or not. The father looks out the window and sees his son standing outside talking to someone in a car in front of the house/driveway. That's the last time the father sees him. The next morning they realize the son is missing.
I'm trying to figure out this young man's name to see if the case was ever solved. I remember the father being interviewed on the program and it just broke my heart. Thanks for any help! |

hmm, you might possibly be thinking of Mike Adams. A little while ago, I reported that his segment was pitched to UM, but denied. The segment did make it on to a similar show called Missing: Reward hosted by Stacy Keach. here is a couple of links with more info on his case,
http://www.findmikeadams.com/story.html http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...s_michael.html is this the one you're thinking of? |

sadly, the Find Mike Adams website is now down. The CP page is still active though.
The Missing: Reward segment is available on a certain website and it is quite fascinating. It mentions several things not on the CP page. -Stated that Mike had noticed theft occuring in the back area of the store. He reported it to his manager, but got reprimanded for being in the back area of the store as opposed to the front where he had been assigned. Also stated that the manager frequently reprimanded Mike over trivial items, and morale at the story was low. (The Find Mike Adams website also stated that Mike's employee file went missing after his disappearance, and that Mike had contemplated reporting his manager over the manager's poor treatment of special needs employees). -Stated that Mike had noticed some people causing disturbances in the parking lot. He asked a coworker named Chito to help investigate, but the people were gone by the time Chito got out there. Chito thought Mike was playing a game on him and chastised him for it. Chito states he followed Mike almost all of the way home that night, but turned shortly before Mike arrived home (Chito lived very close to Mike). Chito had a vehicle similar to the one that was later seen parked at Mike's residence. Chito also reported that Mike had offered him a beer from his trunk that night, and was surprised as he had never known Mike to drink. (Chito stated he tried to get Mike to drink with him several times in the past, but Mike always said he had something to do.) The beer was warm and Chito passed him up on it. At first, I thought Chito might have been involved in Mike's disappearance, but now I'm not sure. -Another coworker (an older female) reported that Mike had seemed edgy a few nights before his disapperance and had picked up a baseball bat for protection when they were closing the store. He was still edgy the night of his disappearance. -The segment also stated that Mike, who had recently graduated from high school, had a firm anti-drug stance and was known as a "narc". It was theorized he may have been targted for retribution as he played a significant hand in a drug bust that occurred at his school. I've never believed voluntary disappearance as Michael had $180.00 in his bed headboar and had a paycheck waiting for him at work. Sadly, I believe foul play occurred here. I really liked Michael's dad in the segment. Especially the part where he gives Michael advice when Mike had come home mad at 1:30 p.m. the day of his disappearance because he was sent home to change his clothes. Check it out. |

Thanks for that, wiseguy. I've never seen that show before and find the case really fascinating. I also agree this looks like foul play. He didn't take his car, he didn't take his cash, and even though he was being a little more fearful than usual, he was cheerful and upbeat on the way home from work, according to his coworker.
I think it's possible that he might have willingly gotten into the car in front of his house, intending to go out for a short time. I think perhaps he thought he could trust the people inside and they turned on him, for whatever reason. Or he could have been forced inside. I'd have to read more on this case, but the theft in the store could be related here. The manager sounds extremely sketchy; why would they be mad that he reported theft? This may be far-fetched, but perhaps the manager was stealing from the store or that was a friend of the manager's who stole from the backroom. Then Mike learned about it and he was harmed to cover it up or because the manager knew Mike was going to report him and didn't want their job at risk. On a side note, the toll for calling in for a tip seemed kind of weird for me.Was that common back then, even for a show seeking crime tips? |

I agree the toll was definitely weird.
The CP page states that 2 individuals Mike knew owned a car that was similar to the one his sister saw idling at their house. One belonged to Chito, the other to a friend/classmate of his. I think one of these people definitely has more info than they're telling and I'd like to know more about this friend/classmate. |

Getting back to the post wiseguy made back in 2010...I wonder why UM denied the request to do a profile on this case? It seems like perfect UM fodder and would've made for a great reenactment.
