Default Mr. Wilson's nerve medicine

I'm sure there was never a formula for Mr. Wilson's nerve medicine, but I noticed in "Dennis and the camera" Mr. Wilson tries to stay up in the backyard to take a picture of the Night Blooming Cereus. He fall's asleep and it was blamed on taking too much nerve medicine. That raises the speculation of an alcohol or codeine ingredient.... A codeine cough syrup would be a sedative to a point and maybe that was the original intent. Mr. Wilson wince's every time he swallows a teaspoon which also could mean a bitter or nasty flavor..... I'm sure there is no answer for this but sure is fun to imagine the ingredients....

I thought Mr. Wilson said he made the nerve medicine himself. He must add something to it.

Maybe he added a couple of shots of whiskey to that nerve medicine.

Biggrin Is it any wonder?

Our younger viewers may not remember this, but OTC nerve medicines were as popular in "Dennis the Menace's" day. I remember such brands as Miles Nervine and Compoz were advertised almost as often as Viagra and Levitra are today. I suspect there may have been at least a dab of alcohol in Nervine...and the only precaution used in their ads was "....take as directed. Avoid excessive use."

Of course, if Dennis Mitchell was YOUR next door neighbor, wouldn't you need some kind of nerve tonic too??

Found this as the taste of Codeine below... Mr. Wilson makes a face as if the taste was a bitter or otherwise distasteful when downing a spoonful... Maybe he added some codeine.... lol.
"Codeine on its own tastes extremely bitter. If you have to take it in a solution it's best to mix it with something sweet like fruit squash or kool-aid."
