Default Syndication or Video Release?

Is (or has) December Bride available for syndication? I would love to get some of these shows, I see where a dealer on Ebay has some for sale on DVD but I don't know about the quality. Just curious. Thanks!

If I knew how the quality of the episodes were, I would purchase some. Maybe I should just go ahead and do it .... if they stink quality-wise, I'm only out a few bucks!

I've heard this show has been in syndication before...that was one of my first questions on SO...lol...its too bad it's not shown anymore though. I thought when TV Land was formed that shows like this would get a second life on tv but I was wrong. We need another classic tv channel fast.

The only episode I saw of this was on TV Land, celebrating Paramount's anniversary (and they aired a sample of all what was in the Paramount library--who got this by way of Desilu). It's a shame that no one bothers to air anything mainly from the '50s.

I found a set on Ioffer so I picked it up, I would say the quality was around 7 on a scale of 1-10

Default CBS/Paramount owns the rights to the series....

....but their "official" corporate opinion is that, because it's a black and white show, and too few people remember it today, it's not worth spending the money to release it on DVD. Perhaps if it had been scheduled regularly on TV Land in the late '90s, maybe there'd be more of a demand for it now.
Too bad....

That's a pretty lame excuse in my opinion. A number of Black and white shows have been released successfully on DVD. I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and Leave it to Beaver come to mind off the top of my head.

Default Keep in mind, 'marvo'...

...that the shows you mentioned were always available in syndication [or on cable], and viewers KNOW those series. That's why they got DVD releases. "DECEMBER BRIDE", however, began disappearing from most local TV stations in the '70s, and became more known for viewers' wonderful memories of the cast than the show itself. Ask anyone today, "Remember 'DECEMBER BRIDE'?", and they'll say, "When was it cancelled? I MISSED IT! Why didn't you tell me more about shows like that....."

They could also give it the colorization treatment as was done with the Three Stooges and Shirley Temple movies to introduce a new generation to an old show.

UGH! No colorization. I wonder why so many younger people (I have a good friend who is only 22) and he can't stand black and white. I guess they grew up on color, lol. I'm 39 and don't mind black and white at all.

December Bride used to air in Louisville on Channel 41 back in the early to mid 1980s on their Sunday night classics block. I only saw it a few times but enjoyed the episodes I saw.

it's a shame that none of the newer classic TV networks don't give this a chance--even if it means burying it in the middle of the night (like Me-TV does with Car 54 and Phil Silvers).

That would be fine, great, even... this is the time period we also get The Jack Benny Program and Burns & Allen.

Seems to me that December Bride would would and fit well there.
