While I own every season and watched these all on TV Land and WWOR back in the '90s, I find THAT GIRL to sometimes be endlessly talky and a little dull. For me, it's more of a time capsule than a true all-time favorite like BEWITCHED or HAZEL.
That being said, I love these reviews and your picks of MVE have been exactly the same as mine for the first two seasons ("Do Something" and "Sixty-Five"). S3 is IMO the weakest of the series but I am eager to see if your picks for the remainder will be the same as mine. |

Hi, Kasey!
I agree that THAT GIRL is more dated than BEWITCHED, but that's almost a given considering their contrasting premises. The former is probably more talky than the latter, but they both, like most single-camera sitcoms of the decade, mine most of their humor from the whimsy of the situations. I too prefer BEWITCHED for its more consistent quality (in the early years, that is) and imaginative storytelling, but THAT GIRL has really grown on me. As you said, it's like a time capsule. I actually prefer Season Three to Seasons Four and Five, although I do think the stories are less fresh than Season Two's. I think Season Four is my least favorite, as I just find too many of the installments of middling quality, which is almost more of a sin than being inferior (a complaint I level to at least a quarter of the installments produced for Season Five). |
