Death Threats Made Against 5-Year-Old Disney Star Mia Talerico - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Disney star Mia Talerico is learning at a very young age about the dangers of celebrity. Someone posted online death threats against the 5-year-old actress, police said.

Talerico plays Charlie in “Good Luck Charlie,” a hit Disney Channel series that has been canceled after 100 episodes. The final show airs in February.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s threat management unit is investigating the threats, according to LAPD spokesman Andrew Smith.

Police are not disclosing the nature of the threats because of the investigative is “very sensitive,” Smith said.

A Disney spokesman replied “no comment” when asked by CNN.

Beloved Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie, starring Bridgit Mendler, is gearing up for its big finale next Sunday night. The show broke ground recently, when they showed the channel’s first ever lesbian couple. Shortly after the program’s young star, Mia Talerico, received some death threats via social media. It is unknown if the threats are connected to the introduction of same sex characters.

Five-year-old Good Luck Charlie star Mia Talerico was the recent recipient of some pretty nasty death threats. The young actress was the victim of some harsh harassment on Instagram. TMZ has reported that some of the comments included:

"Die Mia, F*****g Die in hell! Kill yourself, you deserve to die."

As well as,"Yes, kill youreself stupid b***h."

PEOPLE reached out to LAPD Commander Andrew Smith for more information on the threats. Smith told the publication:

"Our threat analysis unit always keeps our threat investigations findings and recommendations confidential because often the people who make threats read the media coverage they receive."

It is one thing for paparazzi to take pictures of stars and for the late night host to crack a few jokes. That is all part of what is called the price of fame. However, that price should never mean that a child and their family should have to face death threats from anonymous trolls on the internet.

The show recently caused a controversy when it was the first Disney Channel program to feature a same sex couple. Disney Channel rep spoke with TV Guide about the episode, starting:

"This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors,Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness."

It is still unknown if the treats are connected in any way to the episode.

The series finale airs next Sunday, Feb 16 on The Disney Channel.

I am willing to bet that the reason for the death threats is because of the Lesbian Episode. No question about it.

Well, no one should be sending anyone death threats at any age.
This sounds like a very sad and possibly deranged individual who needs to get right with Christ. I trust Mia is being afforded whatever protection she needs and that her ISP provider is able to help track down the IP address of whoever posted these foul and disgusting threats on Instagram and take action against this person.
The best thing we can do is pray for the person and pray for the cast.

well, no, the best thing we can do as a society is to help find this deranged "human" being and make sure they dont see the light of day. Praying isnt going to do any good if this person is near this sweet little girl, sorry.

Well, I believe in a God powerful enough to change people's hearts for good and in fact, that's exactly what Jesus came to do- and when He changes someone, they are truly eternally changed and can in fact, enjoy forgiveness, redemption and fellowship with people, even a sweet little girl that he threatened, once again. That's why I said the best that we can do as citizens is pray for him and the cast. Yes, I do agree that police and those in authority should work to find the person and bring them to justice- but I meant as observers of the situation, unless we have direct information on the matter, the only thing we really can do is pray about the situation- and of course, the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
