Default Yet, nobody has a NY accent...

I just noticed this when watching last weekend...Even though they live in NY, and Brooklyn Heights, yet nobody on this show speaks with the NY accent.....

Actually I don't think their lack of accents was out of line. If Mr. Lane was a newspaper editor, that's a pretty upper middle class job. Accents tend to be more pronounced in the working classes. Plus, newspaper editors tend to move around quite a bit. Maybe the Lanes grew up in the Midwest and just happen to move to NYC to get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to work in the world's biggest media market.

Some of Ross' friends have New York accents. In the second season episode "Patty the Master Builder", Ross' friend Joey has one. I think the kid who is seen talking to Ross in the season one two part Christmas episode has one too. Other than that, you're right, no one sounds New York-y!

See? I knew it wasn't "just me", LOL!!! And didn't one of Ross's friends look like the guy who played one of Opie's friends on TAGS? I think his name was Arnold...

The only other person I noticed with a NY accent was the girl who stood up and said "Vote for Me" in a deadpan voice when Patty was running for something at school..
