Question Explain the unexplainable - what do you think?

I know why the character's were chosen - all walks of life that were forced to live and work together - to grow as a family.

WITH THAT SAID:

#1) Why would millionaires go on a three hour tour in a small boat when they are used to yachts and are used to being catered to?

#2) The Professor: why would anyone go on a boat tour alone??? Mary Ann and Ginger must have been friends that came together and the Howells had each other, but why would a professor take a cruise by himself?

Exclamation To answer my own question...

I was reading more into "the Unofficial Gilligan's Island Handbook", page 21 and the beginning of chapter 2...

On a Tuesday in September 1964, the minnow left Honolulu harbor carrying five passengers: millionaire Thurston Howell III, his socialite wife, Lovey Wentworth Howell, movie star Ginger Grant, Professor Roy Hinkley, and country girl Mary Ann Summers. The Howells were aboard for a pleasure cruise; Ginger jumped aboard the boat to escape from some sailors who were chasing her; the Professor took the cruise to be alone, to write his book, Fun with Ferns; and Mary Ann had won the trip on the Minnow from a contest on a local Kansas radio station.

Fun with Ferns! Too bad it will never be published, could have been a bestseller!

not to mention the tons of clothes they packed for a three hour tour.

The only way it makes sense is if Randolph Blake was manipulating things. He managed to get all of his enemies on one boat, but he died before he could carry out the full plan.

It doesn't make much sense for Ginger and Mary Ann to have been friends prior to the trip. It's unlikely a Hollywood movie star would be friend with a random Kansas farm girl

Clothes, wigs, hats, etc.... You'd lose count trying to keep up with all the hats Mrs Howell wore on the island lol

A fashion designer's plane landed on the wrong island for his photo layout and gave some items to Lovey (a lost episode, lol!)?

While keeping watch to make sure the plane didn't take off, Gilligan fell asleep and it did.

And suitcases loaded with money. Maybe the Howell's didn't want to leave all that money in their hotel room.

Mr Howell said they only had a measly few hundred thousand on the island which he referred to as "petty cash" lol So maybe they carried that much ON them all the time lol

I was always fascinated with hats and I liked to observe Mrs. Howell's and I don't think I ever saw a repeat lol Same for Lisa Douglas on Green Acres, I have no idea how she stored them all in that tiny farm house lol
