It's so sad that both of the Campbells are gone. Richard Mulligan died in 2000. I knew Catherine from "Webster" and Richard from "Empty Nest," but I didn't see SOAP until it was on TVLand. After seeing them together I really wished they were both still here.

Cathryn Damon brought a down to earth great lady to life in Soap. She seemed so genuine. I watched the 1st season for a second time and loved it and still choked up at times.

Such a great actress. Can't imagine anyone else playing Mary.

Mary was my favorite Soap character. As funny as other characters were, especially Burt, Jessica,Benson and Chuck/Bob, Mary was the one who warmed my heart the most. She was the one everyone truly counted on. She was a great mother, sister and wife. And she and Jessica were the best sisters on any show.

She and Richard Mulligan truly deserved the Emmys they won for playing the Campbells. They were fantastic.

Another thing is that she was so good, that she made it seem effortless. She didn't go over the top in trying to get laughs- she had great expressions, reactions and presence.
