CBS confirmed on Monday that Red John’s identity “will be revealed by the end of this calendar year.”

I can't believe they have kept the Red John's identity hidden for so long! I watched this show for awhile, but got tired of the Red John tease.

..and just because they reveal who Red John is, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will catch him.

Yeah, that's true.

I couldn't believe it though when after not watching the show for a couple of seasons, I tuned in and they were still talking about Red John.

The peoducers of The Mentalist initially said that they would wait until the show's last episode to solve the Red John killer case. Now that it's been confirmed that the identity of Red John will be revealed by midseason, does this mean that The Mentalist will be canned by CBS after this season? I think the show's sagging ratings had something to do with the announcement of the Red John identity reveal.
