"Curse of Chucky" Trailer Released
Revenge of Chucky in the Works? Remake Still Planned?
by Ryan Turek March 28, 2012 Convention talk fuels the rumor mill, and I really don't know what to make of some of this. The Mad Monster Party show in Charlotte, North Carolina played host to a Child's Play reunion panel featuring Alex Vincent, Brad Dourif and Chris Sarandon. Dourif had some interesting things to say about the future of Chucky and it appears there are two projects in the works that will attempt to revive the franchise, including the long-mooted Child's Play remake. Moviehole was on the scene and says: "There are reportedly two 'Child’s Play' projects in the works: a remake and a spin-off of sorts involving Chucky’s immediate family, 'Revenge of Chucky'... Dourif confirmed that he’s involved in both projects but has not seen a script for the 'Child’s Play' remake yet." Unfortunately, not much more was said about this Revenge of Chucky project, which is too bad because that's the real news here. The Child's Play remake is being spearheaded by series stalwarts Don Mancini and David Kirschner who are aiming to make a "scarier" take on the original film. Mancini is reportedly on board to direct as well as write. Alas, when MGM when bankrupt, it took a bit of momentum out of the remake a few years back, however, now that the studio is getting back on its feet, perhaps there will be renewed interest in the killer doll. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...-still-planned |

Mancini To Direct Curse of Chucky
by Samuel Zimmerman Jun 25, 2012 Series creator/writer Don Mancini returns to the director's chair for the fifth sequel this fall. Moviehole is reporting that in lieu of the long-gestating reboot of the entire Child's Play saga, Don Mancini will get underway on a direct-to-video sequel entitled Curse of Chucky this September, with plans to the bring the killer doll back to his scarier roots. Here's the plot as described: "Chucky arrives to wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier." The site reveals a lack of Tiffany alongside the nastier tone and kills, apparently disregarding Bride and Seed and picking up after Child's Play 3. Of course, the essential Brad Dourif is to return. http://www.fangoria.com/index.php/ho...rse-of-chuckyq |

This is one of the few horror series that hasn't gotten stale yet for me. They always add a new twist or take on the concept that makes it worthwhile.
Hope they haven't tempted fate once too often! I don't like that they are not including anything from Bride or Seed, though. Why do modern filmmakers always want to go 'backwards'? |

Personally I thought Bride and Seed were a vast improvements over part 3(though I didn't hate it).
Too bad, Don Mancini had talked about wanting to do a sequel that took up where Seed left off on his commentary for the Seed DVD. Oh well, at least I have a supposed Phantasm 5 to look forward to. |

I'm guessing they didn't want to revisit Tiffany or Glen considering that horror movies with darker themes have apparently become the trend again. I preferred the first CP movie and its first sequel because they played it straight. The idea of Chucky terrorizing an entire new family is interesting and a good way to keep the series from going stale.

Filming Begins on Curse of Chucky! Full Cast, Synopsis Revealed!!
by MrDisgusting September 05, 2012 Bloody Disgusting is excited to report that the sixth installment of the frightening Child’s Play franchise, Curse of Chucky, has officially begun principal photography in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada! The franchise comes full circle as Toyland’s most gruesome serial killer returns in a horrifying all-new movie from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production entity of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Curse of Chucky stars Fiona Dourif (daughter of Brad Dourif), A Martinez (General Hospital), Danielle Bisutti (CSI: Miami) and Brennan Elliott (Double Jeopardy). Brad Dourif once again returns to provide the voice of Chucky, the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray, who returns to settle some unfinished business. "Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end." The film is directed by Don Mancini, the Child’s Play franchise creator who has written or co-written each of the previous movies and was the director of Seed of Chucky. An integral part of the Child’s Play franchise from inception, David Kirschner produces from a screenplay by Mancini. The film’s top-flight production team includes special-effects wizard Tony Gardner, production designer Craig Sandells and costume designer Patricia J. Henderson. “Since his introduction to audiences in ‘Child’s Play’ almost a quarter-century ago, Chucky has haunted the nightmares of a generation of moviegoers,” said Glenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment. “Returning to his roots in one of the most provocative horror franchises, this new sequel will shock longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike.” http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/31...psis-revealed/ |
