Lion Forge To Produce Digital Comics Based on "Saved by the Bell", "Knight Rider" and More

If nothing else, recent developments in entertainment have taught us three things: Children of the ’80s are now adults, they’re nostalgic, and they have money. These three simple, irrefutable facts have led to three Transformers movies, two G.I. Joe films, and Keith Giffen writing Masters of the Universe comics.

The nostalgia wave continues, as relatively new digital comic publisher Lion Forge Comics has reached a deal with NBCUniversal to produce digital comics based on "Saved by the Bell", "Punky Brewster", "Miami Vice", "Knight Rider" and "Airwolf".

“Partnering with the team at Lion Forge to bring classic TV properties to life in graphic novel format was a natural step for us as we continue to identify new ways to entertain our fans in the digital space. We’re excited to give fans a chance to revisit some of their favorite shows and characters in a completely new way.”

Lion Forge CEO David Steward addressed the nostalgia directly, discussing the influence the properties had on pop culture and stating that the company is “looking forward to extending that influence by creating visually appealing and entertaining experiences on mobile devices for a whole new generation of fans.”

Writers signed on to work on the projects include Joelle Sellner (Teen Titans, Jackie Chan Adventures), Jonathan London (Geekspace) Geoffrey Thorne (Leverage, Ben 10) David Gorden (Catalyst Prime: Accel and Catalyst Prime: Quincredible).

Jason Johnson (Wetworks, Godstorm) is on board as an artist, along with Carl Reed and Lorenzo Lizana.

Lion Forge plans to begin distributing the comics later this year, meaning you don’t have to wait much longer for the continued tales of KITT, Airwolf, Zack Morris’ gigantic cell phone, and other grand technological achievements of the era.

The comics will be available through the Amazon Kindle Bookstore, Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble’s The Nook Book Store and Kobo.
