Crazy Drunk People in real life

Do Drunk people in real life at a Bar really act like the fictional fake people in a show like cheers ?

Well, that really all depends. The early seasons showed a bit of variety in their drunks, which IMO is pretty pretty accurate to the different types of drunks you'd run into at a bar (within the confines of what they'd show on 80s network television). Some people become obnoxious and even pitiable when intoxicated at a bar, like the episode where that guy comes in to the bar right before he enters the priesthood, admits he has the most boring humdrum life and never loved a woman, then proceeds to get loaded, swear off the priesthood, and proposes to Diane. But they were pretty adamant about not showing many drunk patrons on the show so they had even less of them as the series progressed, and those fewer drunks were all played for comedic effect. Some people are this variety of "fun drunks" but not everyone.

In short, the first couple seasons portray bar drunkenness in a more realistic manner but the later episodes dealing with bar drunks are funnier. Go out of your way to see the final season episode "It's Lonely On The Top" - that is comedy gold.

I have seen Drunk People at Bars in real life once, they usually act silly and stutter excessively when they speak and they trip over things lol

The Cheers bar patrons actually act pretty tame compared with some of the people in bars in our city.

Good topic for a thread. I've been around some drunk people IRL (primarily when I was in college and would go to parties - LOL), and it is amusing that the characters supposedly drinking alcohol in Cheers definitely don't act drunk - for the most part. I.e., when people get drunk IRL their behavior varies - some get very quiet, some get excessively talkative, some get belligerent/violent, etc.

In the case of Norm, he was an alcoholic - so, he had a high tolerance for this. And, while he may have been drinking quite a bit, he could still "hold his liquor" and was, overall, none the worse for wear - at least not obviously. However, I do remember a couple of episodes where he had to be helped out of the bar -due to being unsteady on his feet - LOL.

In the case of the other characters, I rarely remember seeing people visibly drunk, which was amusing - given that the show was about a bar - ha ha.

Yep, times 10 where I'm from. I grew up in bars.

The only time I saw Cliff acting drunk, he was drinking non alcoholic beer because Rebecca forgot to renew the bar liquor licence episode.
