Default Nine Months

Since my current occupation is that of a housewife I finally have time to write again for the first time in like 4 years since we all know I never had time to write through my undergrad

Nine Months

Blair Warner glanced around her bedroom in Manhattan making sure she was not forgetting anything. It was the end of August, which meant it was time for her to go back to Peekskill for school. Blair was about to begin her senior year of high school, the year she had been waiting for since she began Eastland School for Girls when she was eleven. On her first day of Eastland seven years ago she met her Senior Pal, the person that was supposed to help her transition into Eastland and make the change easier for her. She remembered admiring this person and wanting to be just like her when she became a senior, she always told herself she was going to be the best senior pal anyone could ever have. After all, she was Blair Warner, and Blair Warner was fabulous.

She heard a car honking outside and glanced out her window and it was sitting in front of her house, it must have been the car that her father had gotten to take her things back to school, since there was no way all of her things would fit into her Porshe.. She saw the driver get out and walk towards her front door. She made one last glance around her room, decided that she had everything as she heard the maid open the door and let the man in. He was lead back to the room where Blair was to carry her things out to the car with the help of the maid. It was time to go, and Blair had a plan to dominate her senior year and go out with a bang for the class of 1982.

Dietitian Edna Garrett was running around the cafeteria trying to get everything ready for the students to come back. The cafeteria is where they went to learn their dorm assignments and Mrs. Garrett always snacks set up for the girls on the first day. She was excited to see all of the students but she missed four of them more than others. Jo Polniazeck, Blair Warner, Natalie Green, and Tootie Ramsey lived in the room next to hers and worked in the kitchen, and had done so for the past two years after an incident where Blair and Jo used fake ID’s to get into a local bar as well as did damage to the school’s cafeteria van. Even though the debt had been paid off for awhile now, the girls could not bear the idea of leaving their room above the kitchen.

Jo Polniazeck turned into Eastland campus and drove on to the cafeteria parking lot. She was happy to be back. Being in Peekskill was always refreshing after time in the Bronx. As much as she tries to remain true to her hometown she sometimes feels that she has outgrown the Bronx. Eastland taught her how much potential she has and whenever she is home in the Bronx she begins to feel tied down and at times trapped for the three long months of summer vacation. The friends she grew up with are doing the same things as they were when she first came to Eastland and Jo feels as though she is in a completely different spot. She is a year away from graduating high school, while her friends from home have dropped out. She knows that if she had stayed there, she most likely would have done the same. She understands how big of a deal everything is. She has the chance to be the first in her family to attend college and she wants more than anything for that chance to become reality.

Tootie Ramsey had had a long day of traveling. She had been on a train from Washington D.C., where she was from, to Peekskill to begin her sophomore year at Eastland. She had high hopes for the year. Two of her best friends were graduating at the end of the year and as always she was exited to learn what the Drama club’s play was going to be for the year. All of her friends were at Eastland and she was more than excited to see everyone. She had spent the summer at drama camp as she always did and gave a remarkable performance as Juliet in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at the end of the summer. She received rave reviews in this role and was feeling excellent about the new school year.

Natalie Green was traveling from New York City to Peekskill. Like the others she too was excited about the new school year. She was going to be a junior as well as editor in chief of the Eastlander and she was up to this challenge and excited for it. She was to be rooming with her three best friends once more as it would be the last since two of them were graduating in May. Her excitement only built when she arrived in the Eastland parking lot and saw Jo’s motorcycle already there parked next to Blair’s Porshe, it made her wonder if Tootie’s train had arrived in Peekskill as well which meant that she would be the last to arrive.

Hey Meghan...nice to see you back on here. I have some abandoned fics on here myself that I should finish. LOL!

Hope you are enjoying your time as a housewife! Glad it gives you time to write. This story is starting out great. I can't wait to read more.

Things are good. I've been teaching kindergarten for a couple of years and I love it. My school was closed down due to budget cuts, so I was moved last year. It was hard, but I'm used to things now. I have a lot of leadership responsibilities in my new school and I finished my masters in curriculum so I've been working more with that. Right now I'm just enjoying the summer...I've been writing some things for fanfiction.net (not FOL stuff.) Not much time for writing though.

Look me up on fb sometime and we can chat! Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Here's a little bit more

Blair slips into the back door of the cafeteria and runs upstairs to her room and bathroom that she shares with her four roommates and Mrs. Garrett. The only thing that she brought with her was her bag of makeup, everything else was coming later in the car. She puts her makeup down next to her bed and looks around and smiled oddly happy to be back once more She then realized that this is the last time she would be moving back into this room and became saddened by it. Quickly pushing the sadness aside she attempted to psych herself back up she couldn’t wait to go see her roommates as well as her friends and have a terrific senior year.

Blair ran downstairs through the kitchen and snuck out into the cafeteria. Mrs. Garrett is by the bulletin board re pining a flyer that for some reason will not stay up and Blair decides to sneak up behind her.

“Why won’t the room assignments stay up?” Edna Garrett muttered to herself.
“Out of all the papers on this board this is the most important.”

Blair walks up behind her and puts her hands over Mrs. Garrett’s eyes. “Guess who!” she says in a high pitched voice.

“Haha well let’s see here.” Mrs. Garrett says and starts feeling Blair’s hands with her own. “Soft hands, freshly manicured. Blair!” She screams and then turns around and hugs her. “I didn’t even see you come in!”

“Oh I came in through the back entrance and took my makeup bag upstairs to claim its spot in the bathroom. Blair responded nonchalantly,

“Of course you did.” responded Mrs. Garrett.

“Excuse me.” Came the voice of Jo Polniazeck walking up to Blair and Mrs. Garrett “Blair Warner used the back entrance. The delivery entrance.”

“Jo!” squealed Mrs. Garret as she embraced her into a hug.

“I wanted to get upstairs!” Blair defended

“Well now that you know how that door works you can help Roy carry in deliveries this year so I don’t have to deal with that creep” Jo responded.

“Good to have you girls back!” Mrs. Garret exclaimed enjoying the sound of the girls bickering so early.

“Wait Mrs. Garrett, you’re not going to make me carry in deliveries are you?” Blair asked worriedly.

“It depends Blair, that may be a good form of punishment if you break curfew.” Mrs. Garrett responded with a smile and Blair whimpered.

“Come on Blair let’s go get our class schedules and find everyone else.” Jo said pulling Blair away.

LOL! I know what you mean. I'm home all day right now too since it's summer break, and I seem to get very little done even though I feel like I am always busy doing something.
