"Nurse Jackie" Showrunners/Co-Creators Leaving Series
"Nurse Jackie" Co-Creators/Showrunners Departing
Apr 17, 2012 by Joyce Eng "Nurse Jackie" co-creators/showrunners Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius are leaving the Showtime comedy after four seasons, Deadline reports. A new showrunner has not yet been named, but Showtime is already in discussions with a candidate to work alongside star/executive producer Edie Falco and executive producer Richie Jackson, according to the site. Wallem and Brixius, who are both based in Los Angeles, chose to exit the show, which films in New York, to spend more time at home. "This has been the best job of my life, but the travel, having to spend six months in LA and six months in NY and be away from home, took a toll on me," Wallem, who is dating Melissa Etheridge, told the site. "I have four stepkids, and I would miss all of the family stuff." Added Brixius: "'Nurse Jackie' has been the ride of a lifetime, and for that I am especially grateful to Showtime, Lionsgate and the incomparable Edie Falco for bringing these stories to life. After four years, I have decided to come home to LA — even though my heart is at All Saints." "Nurse Jackie" kicked off its fourth season earlier this month and enjoyed a ratings bump, averaging 653,000 viewers. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Nurse-Ja...g-1046112.aspx |
