According to IMDb, Actor Joe Brooks passed away on Dec. 5th, His Obituary was published today in the LA Times although it was very brief.

I was really sad when I learned this news. He was a wonderful actor and will be dearly missed.

I've been watching F-Troop on DVD. Joe Brooks was hilarious as the visually challenged Trooper Vanderbilt who was usually assigned to the lookout tower.
