Production codes. "Because It's There," the first episode of the season, was production-code 60531-234. "Where the Guys Are" was production-code 60531-240.

Well, from what i read the show was suppose to end as of season 10 but was renewed for the 11th season because joanie loves chachi was canceled and thought with them returning to happy days it would boast the ratings back up. It had nothing to do with the network being generious because abc is not really that. Unfortunitly the damage was already done and they couldn't get the rating back up to where they were before erin and scott left. As for linda purl the producers didn't like that fact that they demosticated fonzie and that by pairing him in a relationship fonzie lost the edge he had for the last nine seasons which is why the ex ashley out. As for the other characters with the return of chachi and joanie the other characters were no longer needed.

I also thought the reason why Ashley and Heather left was because Erin Moran and Scott Baio came back. If you notice when Scott and Erin came back, everybody that was in the show to replace them left. Ashley, Heather, Flip and K.C.

Btw, did you like Heather? Did she ever have an indoor voice?

What exactly do you mean an "indoor voice"?

Well, I kinda thought Heather kind of yelled all the time. Im probably wrong but it just seemed like she yelled or talked very loudly on the show.

She definitely did. Very annoying. She's probably my least-favorite character on the show mostly because of the yelling.

Maturing Fonzie was interesting, Domesticated Fonzie was not.

I actually think Heather was a big part of the problem. The entire relationship between Fonzie and Ashley seemed to revolve around keeping the little girl happy rather than the idea of two people falling in love. You never got any real sense of love or passion between the adults, but rather a bunch of cloying affectation and "Heather's Sad About Something/Fonzie Saves The Day!" episodes.

I actually wish we'd seen the break-up happen onscreen, with Ashley telling him that the only thing they had in common was Heather, and while he's welcome to remain a part of her daughter's life, their own relationship isn't working out. That would give some context to Fonzie's actions during Season 11 and provide a rationale for his out-of-nowhere relationship with Danny during the final episodes (since it was clear during Season 10 that what he REALLY wanted was a chance to be a father, and Ashley was just a means to an end).

Why Did Fonzie and Ashley Breakup Prior to the Last Season?

SHHHH! That season never happened, it never happened, it never happened...

I like the way you think. Of course, I apply that reasoning to the last four seasons.

I totally agree with you and you make some excellent points.

Default one of the reasons i never liked season ten

season 10 wasnt really like HAPPY DAYS at all it was more of a FONZIE kinda spinoff pilot that lasted way too long.ANSONS part had dried up so much i forget sometimes he was still on the show, the horrid replacement type characters FLIP,ASHLEY,HEATHER, K.C. are very easy to forget.Liked ARNOLDS
return but felt they could have done much more with him then they did.The storylines were on the weak side but some of the acting was far worse he whole season is like a really bad dream sequence.
