TV FOX Renews The Very Disappointing 'The Cleveland Show'

Fox has renewed flagship animated comedy series Family Guy for a tenth season and its spinoff The Cleveland Show for a fourth season. The two shows are part of Seth MacFarlane's toon troika on Fox, along with American Dad, which was recently renewed for a seventh season. Family Guy and Cleveland Show are on different production schedules. Family Guy is now in its ninth season, while Cleveland Show only in its second, so it has been assured to stay on through the 2012-13 season. “For nine seasons, our viewers have been cracked up, delighted, surprised and, at times, gloriously disturbed by the mind of Seth MacFarlane -- and they keep coming back for more,” Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly said. “The Griffins and the Browns have become cornerstones of our Sunday nights, and we can’t wait to find out what new adventures Seth, Mike and Rich cook up for them next season.”

It's not disappointing to me at all. I find myself laughing at it a lot more than I do Family Guy these days. The Cleveland Show has its moments of crudity, of course, but overall it's a kinder comedy and you actually LIKE most of the characters, as opposed to Family Guy where it's getting hard not to hate everyone.

I respect your opinion retro and you make a valid point, I guess I was expecting a lot more from this show and every time I watch, I am disappointed.

^ It's hard not to sort of repeat yourself when you do a spinoff. I'd say that both TCS and American Dad are basically copies of the Family Guy situation and characters. But both shows have forged their own identities in the years they've been on, I think. And as much as I've enjoyed Family Guy, I think it's time for it to gracefully bow out.

I would have agreed with you about this point after last season, but this year, there seems to be a renewed energy into the show. IMO

This year is better, I agree. I just would like to see it go out on a high note, plus it seems like all the major plotlines have more or less been resolved.

Default No such luck, 'Retro4Life'...

...Fox just announced they've renewed "FAMILY GUY" for another season. So, it'll still appear back-to-back with "THE CLEVELAND SHOW"...sorry.

I would rather watch The Cleveland Show any day over American Dad (not so funny) or Bob's Burgers (meh), but that's just me.

I like the Cleveland Show and American Dad; to me Bob's Burgers is the disappoinment that shouldn't be on the schedule.

I'd rather watch "The Cleveland Show", "Family Guy", and "American Dad" over "The Simpsons"...hell, I'd even watch "Bob's Burgers" over "The Simpsons" (And I don't even watch "Bob's Burgers")!
