Question Which host of "The Hollywood Squares"

Did you like better?1)The ORIGINAL host of the NBC daytime version that ran from 1966 to 1980 and the first syndicated version that ran from 1972 to 1980,Peter Marshall 2)The host of the 1986-1989 second syndicated version John Davidson 3)or Tom Bergeron? Since I never saw John Davidson's orTom Bergeron's version,I'd say my favorite was the original host,Peter Marshall. What are yours?

I would go with Peter Marshall, with Tom Bergeron a close second.

Cool

I'm old school so my favorite is Peter Marshall.

While I did like Peter Marshall's version, I feel that sometimes his version lacks a certain OOMPH factor at times and his tee-hee laugh he did grinded my nerves at times.

I'm going against the grain here a bit and say John Davidson's version b/c it was the 1st version of HS I saw, it was the 1st version of HS I grew up w/ and IMO, it had the best set and best music package of any version of HS even though John Davidson himself didn't have the control of the celebrities that Peter Marshall and later Tom Bergeron did.

Tom Bergeron was a terrific host. But I didn't really care too much for some of the celebs. Whoopi was an ego-ist, Bruce Vilanch rubbed me off the wrong way. Gilbert can be both annoying and funny at the same time. After Whoopi left, this version really became more enjoyable and I did like Game Show Weeks they did have though, especially the appearance of Peter Marshall returning and even hosting a day as well as the other Game Show Legends as well and the post-Whoopi years had the best bonus round of any version of HS even though I hated how they cheapened the stakes in the 6th and final season.

On there, Gene Rayburn resumed his duty as the host of Match Game for one hour and this guy Jon Bowman (who used to play Bowser on the TV show and in the group Sha Na Na...am I showing my age yet?) was the host of the Hollywood Squares for the next hour. It didn't last long as far as I recall, but was pretty insteresting to she Bowser trade in his pompadour and leather jacket, for a buzz cut and a Brook Brothers suit. (LOL)
Even though Bauman wasn't a good gameshow host, he does win my vote for most improved wardrobe for any game show celebrity.

It's a tie between Peter Marshall and Tom Bergeron. Haven't seen John Davidson's version enough to judge. Only saw it a handful of times when USA re-ran it.
