When will 'Small Wonder' get a remake? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

A remake of the mid-'80s sitcom about a robot daughter would essentially kill all future '80s remakes, according to EW.

Small Wonder needs to be left alone just like every other show already made!

It's all perspective- for many kids who grew up in the '80s, it was one of, if not the greatest decade because it's their childhood. Apparently for some, like the author here, grow jaded over the past or just really did not like most of the entertainment in the '80s.
For me, I love the '80s (though not necessarily everything in the '80s), but I also know enough to know that of course everything wasn't awesome all the time. I mean- and I'm talking beyond just TV shows and movies people like to rip on- there were real events going on like the Iran-Contra affair, spread of crack cocaine, AIDS, Challenger explosion, Chernobyl, Exxon Valdez and so on....
But for better or worse I definitely enjoyed my childhood and much of the entertainment (TV and movies) that time period produced- "Small Wonder" definitely being one of them.
Even so, I don't care to see it remade necessarily- I'd rather see the rest of the series get released to DVD! And I don't think the author of the article needs to worry so much about '80s nostalgia- sure, there are plenty of remakes of TV shows and movies still going on- but it seems very few of them have actually been, say, good. Thus, I doubt many of the kids who actually grew up with the original versions care too much about seeing the remakes.
(However, I will say I actually enjoyed the "Inspector Gadget" movie- not the greatest in the world, but still a pretty good version of the classic cartoon. And the sequel is surprisingly not that bad either.)
