Director Savage Holland (who directed both Better off Dead... and One Crazy Summer) decided to hold a screening of Better off Dead... after the shooting on Summer had wrapped.

About 20 mins. into it Cusack got up out of his seat and stormed out while shouting at Holland "You ruined my career!"




Better off Dead... cast members have said that Cusack and Holland never got along after this and that Cusack probably didn't want to be known for teen-centered comedies.

Yet Cusack and Holland did work together again in One Crazy Summer....a teen centered comedy...but maybe that was a contract thing and he had to do it?

Christopher Lee and Meatcleaver Massacre

Actor 'Lee, Christopher' has said that he had no idea he was appearing in this film. He said that he was hired by a different producer to narrate an entirely different film, and that the producer apparently sold Lee's footage, without his permission, to the producers of this film, who then advertised it as "starring Christopher Lee". He initiated legal action against this film's producers, but withdrew it when he was advised that it would be a long, drawn-out and expensive procedure.

Don Davis and Savage Island

I wish I could find it, but I remember reading an interview with Don Davis and he was very unhappy with the film. I think he said that it turned out not to be what he agreed to. The writer/director was working as a lighting tech on Stargate SG-1 and he approached Davis with it.

Anyone remember the Sharon Tate and Tony Curtis movie Don't Make Waves? It's known that Sharon didn't care much for it at all. Roman Polanski, of all people, even mentions this in his 1984 auto-bio Roman.

This is a recent one regarding actor Hugh Grant.

Grant was involved with exposing the phone hacking scandal of News of the World over in the U.K. They recently folded during the whole mess.



He recently told Entertainment Weekly that he regrets doing the 1995 romantic comedy Nine Months because it is owned by 20th Century Fox's Rubert Murdoch.

"It would certainly stick in my craw to work for Fox. I did make one film for them 16 years ago but I was naive then. I didn't even know who owned it."

Daphne Zuniga doesn't mention the two horror films she did in the 80's, The Dorm that Dripped Blood and The Initiation. I've seen both and they really aren't that bad but then again, I only watched them, not acted in them.

Donna Reed, who starred in the 1983 TV thriller Deadly Lessons, criticized the movie for being sleazy and was embarrassed to do it, even though the movie is extremely tame and contained no nudity, sex scenes or swearing.

Director Curtis Harrington disowned 1978's (again with that year!) Devil Dog: Hound of Hell. He said it was very hard to make the puppies and the adult dog look evil. By the time it came for the big showdown between Richard Crenna and hell hound, he was off the picture and was horrified by the entire movie.

Robert Vaughn has dismissed Teenage Caveman and Dana Kimmell has no love lost for her work in Friday the 13th: Part 3 after becoming a born-again Christian.

I remember it, and caught it on a local television station WAY back in the early 80's. My memory of it is that it was light, fun, frothy and actually did make me laugh several times. But Tate's role WAS almost entirely ornamental, and didn't stretch her acting abilities at all, so I can see why she might have felt that way.

This is for a completely different reason, but director Lars von Trier says that he now regrets making his 2003 film Dogville.

Dogville was listed on the Facebook page of Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik as being one of his favorite films. (His Facebook page is no longer up)

Dogville ended with a shooting spree and it's director expressed regret.





In the Danish newspaper Politikien, von Trier said:

"If it was an inspiration, I'm sorry that I made it. I feel badly about thinking that 'Dogville,' which in my eyes is one of my most successful films, should have been a kind of script for him.

It's horrific. My views are the complete opposite of Breivik and his deeds."

When the film was completed he called it "a debaculous fiasco." and when Random House released his official biography there was no mention of this film in it at all.

Upon original release the film was a box-office disaster but it has become a cult classic in the years since its release.

In a recent interview in KCRW for his new movie 5 Days of War, director Renny Harlin talked about what went on during the making of his infamous 1995 flop Cutthroat Island.


"Originally, Michael Douglas was supposed to star. Geena and I begged to be let go... And I don't think I've ever said this in any other interview. We begged. Geena was scared mindless about headlining this film. We felt that a pirate movie with a female lead was suicidal, but we were contractually obligated."





He blames the now-defunct production company Carolco for not releasing him from the contract and, according to him, they told him, "We don't care if the script is not good."

Harlin recalled, "I personally spent a million dollars of my own money for this."





At the time he had just come off Die Hard and Cliffhanger.

"It was a good reminder, I think, in a way, that when you start believing in yourself too much, and thinking that you're invincible, that you're a genius, that someone brings you down and says, like, "OK, you're definitely not a genius, and you've had a good run, but you have to be humble and play by the rules."

Brad Pitt recently did an interview with Entertainment Weekly where he discussed his "miserable" experience filming Interview with the Vampire.




"I was the bitch role opposite Tom Cruise. I spent six months in the f**king dark... with contact lenses, make-up... There was no script.

I knew the book, and in the book you have this guy asking, 'Who am I?' which was probably applicable to me at that time... In the book it is a guy going on this search of discovery. And, in the meantime, he has this Lestat character (Cruise) that he's entranced by and abhors.



But then I got the script two weeks before we started shooting. In the movie, they took the sensational aspects of Lestat and made that the pulse of the film, and those things are very enjoyable and very good, but for me, there was just nothing to do - you just sit and watch Tom Cruise. He had all this pressure to make it work, and he made it work - and good on him.

And there was a tragedy just before shooting began: We lost River Phoenix literally a week before he's supposed to come in. It was a horrible moment. Christian Slater came in and gallantly filled in for him. But that whole thing was dark.



I'm telling you, one day it broke me. I called producer David Geffen asking how much it would cost to get out. The answer: $40 million. I was like, 'I've got to man up and ride through this....'

The great thing that came out of that movie is that it birthed my love affair with New Orleans... I just rode my bike around all night. I made some great friends there."
