'Mad Men' Creator Responds to 'Playboy Club' Ripping Off His Hit Show
"Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner was asked whether he believes the new broadcast dramas "Pan Am" and "The Playboy Club" -- both set in the 1960s -- are ripping off his AMC show, reports New York Magazine's Joe Adalian.
"Define ripping something off. I don't own the period. I see the whole experience as a vindication," Weiner said during Entertainment Weekly's annual pre-Emmys party, the story says. "It's a thrill that these same people now are seeing something commercial in it. I wish them the best." http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/tvbizwire/ |

Both Playboy Club and Pan Am clearly, are attempts at appealing to the...shall we say...less-attentive, mainstream audiences, without the edge, wit or je ne sais qua of Mad Men.
And Eddie Cibrian ain't no Jon Hamm, for DAMN sure!! |
