'Grady' Was The Right Character to Spin-Off...Wrong Cast to Support Him
No doubt in my mind that Whitman Mayo's character Grady was the right character from Sanford & Son to Spin-off. The problem was the casting was all wrong. With the exception of Haywood Nelson, the rest of the cast was dull and boring. If the network would've been patient and casted correctly, Grady would've been a hit spin-off. Agree? Disagree?

I liked Grady a lot on Sanford and Son but I honestly never thought there was enough depth there to carry a whole series by himself. The character was funny and likeable to a degree, but there was a strangeness there that really kept you from identifying too much with him. Let's face it; Grady was kind of out there, lol.
