Default Peter Marshall not a fan of Whoopi Goldberg on Hollywood Squares

Hey guys,

Well just so ya know, 1st off, Hollywood Squares celebrates its 45th Anniversary

Peter Marshall also known as The Original Master of The Hollywood Squares hosted the show during the late 60's, 70's and the Early 80's

Former Hollywood Square John Davidson hosted the show during the late 80's and on E! True Hollywood Story, John said that he was asked to be the host of Squares and Peter Marshall who is also a Good Friend of Davidson told him to Go For It and he did

Tom Bergeron hosted the show from 1998-2004

and during the H2 Era, Peter Marshall returned to Squares as the Center Square and he later became a Substitute Host and as usual, Peter Marshall did a great job

However, there's something I must ask you all this:

Now, from 1998-2002, Whoopi Goldberg became not only the Co-Producer of Hollywood Squares, but she was also the show's Center Square and Peter Marshall stated that he was not a fan of Whoopi Goldberg on Hollywood Squares

and so, I ask you all this:

Is this true and if so, what did he say about Whoopi being on Squares?

and does that explain why he did not appear on Squares with Whoopi @ the time?

Please let me know what you think about this

Thank You

Peter initially said that he disliked Whoopi and at 1st thought that Tom Bergeron was a mistake as host, but later recanted his original statement about Tom and grew to like Tom as host.

Peter also stated that he disliked the Whoopi years because the show and set was too loud. He also was displeased about the over-abundant sexual innuendo with the Whoopi years and said that the show wasn't written well.

He was also heard saying that they offered to make a creative consultant of the show but he turned the offer down.

He also supposedly stated somewhere that he's never seen a version of HS go through THAT many questions in one show. I don't if that was true or not but he said something like that along those lines.

And IMO, I can't blame Peter Marshall for wanting nothing to do with the Whoopi-years of H2.

Same here, I can't blame Peter for not wanting to work w/Whoopi either

She started off alright for the 1st 3-4 weeks, but then, she got SOOOOOO out of control

God Bless You Peter Marshall

I can believe that.

I noticed how whenever it was another celebrities' turn to answer their question they keep showing Whoopi's face in everyone else's questions most of the time.

It was Whoopi that instituted that lame-as-h-e-double hockey sticks bonus round in the 4th season.

And she really clashed greatly with King World by the 4th season to the point that KW had enough of her ego and when they wouldn't put up with her ego, she was gone after S4 and co-EP's John Moffat and Pat Tourk Lee (the guys who made that robot logo in the closing credits) was also given the pink slips as was Head Writer/Semi-regular Bruce Vilanch (though he would make at least one more week of shows during the post-Whoopi HS in S5, though not in the center left square as he did during the Whoopi years) and Caroline Rhea left to do her own talk show (albeit short-lived).

What made the earlier Whoopi episodes boring was the fact that there was no Secret Square, so 99% of the time the contestants would choose Whoopi first so they could have control of the center square. Later they added the Secret Square and it made the game a little more interesting because the contestants tried to find the Secret Square and Whoopi was no longer picked first all the time.

McDonald's Cashier: Hi! Welcome to McD's. What would you like to go with, today?

Customer: I'd like to go with Whoopi Golderg, please!

Restaurant patrons cheer and clap.
