LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Rudi Stein never had much luck on the field as a member of the “Bad News Bears.” But David Pollock – the man who played Rudi as a youngster – is now hoping to hit a home run in Washington, D.C. Pollock, who played the nervous, often-getting-hit-by-a-pitch-on-purpose, glasses-wearing Rudi in the three “Bad News Bears” films in the late ‘70s, is running for Congress as a Democrat representing California. According to Pollock’s campaign website, the 50-year-old politician has “served as an elected official in Moorpark [Calif.] for 17 years,” serving on the City Council and the Board of Education. A graduate from Pepperdine University, who later obtained his M.B.A. from UCLA, Pollock spent 18 years working for Rocketdyne, a former unit of the Boeing Company. In addition to his political aspirations, Pollock is also a commercially licensed pilot and certified flight instructor. While his character Rudi never necessarily seemed destined for greatness, Pollock previously joked that he has a good idea of what career path the hapless little leaguer may have pursued. “Well, clearly Rudi wasn’t destined to be a professional baseball player,” Pollock said in a previous interview with CultFilmFreak.com. “He probably became an attorney specializing in children’s sports injuries.” http://www.accesshollywood.com/forme...cess-originals |
