"Haven" Launching Twitter Storyline
by Chris Harnick posted Aug 10th 2011 Syfy's "Haven" is going to where they claim no show has gone before: Twitter. According to Syfy, the series will launch a seven-episode storyline that will flow between the show and Twitter. "The 'Haven' writers and producers have done an amazing job of crafting a story line that seamlessly moves between the TV show and Twitter," Craig Engler, general manager and senior vice president of Syfy Digital, said in a statement. "Although there have been simple integrations before, no one has fully and organically integrated Twitter into the fabric of the show in the way 'Haven' is doing. If you watch 'Haven' and use Twitter, you're in for a real treat." The story, which starts Fri., Aug. 12 at 10PM ET, will see Vince (Richard Donat) and Dave (John Dunsworth) join Twitter -- their handles @VinceHaven and @DaveHaven -- and interact with @ColdInHaven, a mysterious Twitter user who knows too much about Vince, Dave and Haven. Viewers can follow the story both on the show and on Twitter with the hashtag #HavenNews. The second season finale on Fri., Sept. 30 will wrap up the story. "Although Twitter has been featured in TV shows before, this is the first time a storyline from a television series has been fully integrated with the popular online service," executive producer Lloyd Segan said in a statement. "The story has been created in such a way that viewers who don't follow the Twitter plot can still enjoy the show. For those that do, there will be a special meaning to events in Haven during these seven episodes." "Twitter has become the default platform for TV fans to talk, in real-time, about the shows they love," Robin Sloan, manager of media partnerships at Twitter, said in a statement. "Syfy has embraced that conversation, and now it's breaking new ground with this Haven storyline. It incorporates Twitter more deeply into the show's plot than anything we've ever seen before." http://www.aoltv.com/2011/08/10/have...ter-storyline/ |

i watch the show every week but i find Twitter useless and annoying; hopefully this won't ruin the rest of the season for those who don't use twitter.
