Default The Hosts of The Dating Game on a scale of 1-10

Hey guys, The Dating Game has had 5 hosts of the show

and so, I would like to know:

on a scale from 1-10, how do you rank the hosts of The Dating Game?

and here they are:

Jim Lange (The Original Host and host of Barry & Enright's Bullseye)
Elaine Joyce (Game Show Panelist)
Jeff MacGregor (Son of the late McLean Stevenson)
Brad Sherwood (Whose Line is it Anyway?)
Chuck Woolery (Wheel of Fortune, SCRABBLE, Greed & LINGO)

Please share your thoughts on all of them.

Lange the original is a 10! The Original is the original!
Joyce tried to be funny but she was cute at the same time, a 6.
MacGregor tried too hard to be funny at 4.
Sherwood was a 7.
Woolery is a 10!

Well 1st off, when Elaine Joyce and Jeff MacGregor hosted The All New Dating Game, Jim Lange was hosting the $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime and Triple Threat for syndication and Chuck Woolery was still hosting Love Connection for syndication and SCRABBLE for NBC Daytime

But when Brad Sherwood and Chuck took over from 1996-1999, Jim Lange was still focusing on his Radio Career

and now, here are my rankings:

When it comes to The Dating Game, no one can top Jim Lange and Chuck Woolery

Mr. Bullseye Man Jim Lange treated the people on the show like class and plus, he did the show for a lot of years and kept the game going smoothly

and even though, he's The King of The Dating Game, I also associate him w/Bullseye also

The original theme and the set was Classic

and so, Jim Lange gets a Perfect 10

The King of Word Games Chuck Woolery also held his own on The Dating Game and of course, being a Good Friend of Mr. Lange, Chuck would go out and treated everyone like class and thanks to his experience on Love Connection, it certainly paid off for 2 Seasons and the theme was an update of the Original Version and the set was pretty good, too

But when it comes to Chuck Woolery, I still associate him w/SCRABBLE and he will also be known as the Original Host of Wheel of Fortune

and so, Chuck Woolery gets a Perfect 10 as well

Now as for the other hosts:

Elaine Joyce after having experience as a Game Show Panelist on What's My Line?, Match Game, TattleTales, The Original Chain Reaction, Pyramid w/Dick Clark and Bill Cullen, Password Plus and Super Password, she was ready for another challenge and that was hosting a Game Show

Chuck Barris hired her to host the show and even though she's known for having an attitude off camera, she was pretty good and she tried to be funny, but @ the same time, she was so cute and I give Elaine props for just being herself and not trying to be like Jim Lange and @ least she treated the contestants like class and props for the set and the theme

The Set w/the Neon Lights was so cool and it was the Perfect Fit for Elaine and the Opening Theme sounded more like Old School Jazz and it was great and the Closing Theme to the show was so cool and it was so Rock 'N' Roll and again, it was a Perfect Fit for Elaine and Bob Hilton did a good job as announcer for both The All New Dating Game and The All New Newlywed Game w/Bob Eubanks from 1985-1987

and so, I give Elaine a 7 for her performance

Brad Sherwood from Whose Line is it Anyway? was a good host when The Dating Game came back in 1996 after a 7 year absence and he carried the show real well and just like Jim Lange and Chuck Woolery, he was also a Class Act as well and he was being himself and not like Jim Lange

The Theme was pretty good and the set was OK, but the only problem that I had w/this version was the format was so out of place

I mean, the looks and personality thing wasn't a good thing, but their were still some funny moments on the show

and so, I give Brad a 7 as well for his performance

Now, as for Jeff MacGregor who is the son of the late McLean Stevenson, well let's see, where do we start?

OK, I don't know why Elaine Joyce lasted 1 Season as host, I guess the people @ Barris Productions (after Chuck Barris Stepped Down as Executive Producer) decided it was time to make changes and so, they hire Jeff who came out and looked like a cross between Jim Caldwell and JM J. Bullock from Too Close for Comfort to host the show and the theme from the 80's version was updated and Bob Hilton was replaced by legendary announcer the late Charlie O'Donnell and even though it still felt like the 86/87 season, Elaine's Set didn't fit Jeff MacGregor, but the set was updated during the 88/89 and it fitted him well

Of course, I didn't watch the 88/89 Season b/c none of the stations in my area carried the show, but after watching it on YT, I can see why and plus, I only saw a few episodes of The All New Dating Game w/Jeff MacGregor and I never cared for it

The only problem that I have w/this version was Jeff MacGregor himself

I mean, nothing against him personally, I mean, he seems to be a good actor and a good Sportscaster these days on ESPN, but The All New Dating Game was not his cup of tea nor was it his playground

He tried too hard to be funny and failed miserably, he seemed so out of place and his jokes were either too lame or too corny and that's why I never cared for Jeff on The Dating Game

and what's up w/him always carrying a Microphone?

I mean, you never saw Jim Lange carry one (unless if it's for Bullseye or The $100,000 Name That Tune from the 84/85 Season) nor have you ever seen Elaine Joyce, Brad Sherwood or Chuck Woolery carry one either

and so, for his poor performance, I give him a 3

and those are my thoughts on the hosts of The Dating Game from the past 45 years

and if Columbia Tri Star/SONY ever decide to revive The Dating Game, please let it be someone good like Daisy Fuentes of Ali Landry for that matter

I saw Jeff MacGregor's version and he does seem out of place on TANDG. He comes off as too smug and corny.

At least the only thing I give him props for is the fact that the mic he carried was a Sony G-T mic, although his in a black color.

Lange and Woolery were the best on TDG.

On one episode when Jim Lange was escorting this one couple backstage to a trip or something like that, he carried a mic at least once.
