Attorney General Eric Holder Demands "The Wire" Return for Sixth Season
by Alex Moaba posted Jun 1st 2011 U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder took a break from prosecuting terrorists and white collar criminals to plead for more episodes of "The Wire", the critically acclaimed Baltimore crime drama from Ed Burns and David Simon. Holder said he'd also settle for a movie. Speaking at an Interagency Drug Endangered Children Task Force event, Holder made his demands clear, according to the Washington Examiner. Holder joked: "I want to speak directly to Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon, do another season of 'The Wire.' I want another season, or a movie. I have a lot of power." Also appearing at the event were "Wire" actors Jim True-Frost, Sonja Sohn and Wendell Pierce. The panel watched clips from the show and discussed the impact of drug use and trafficking on young children. DOJ officials praised "The Wire" for its realistic depictions of urban poverty and for accurately portraying how the cycle of drug addiction can decimate poor communities. President Obama said during the 2008 Presidential campaign that "The Wire" was his favorite show. It sounds like they've been watching it at cabinet meetings. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/06/01/atto...urn-for-sixth/ |
