Adult Swim's "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" Changes its Name to "Aqua Unit Patrol Force 1"
Adult Swim changes name of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" to "Aqua Unit Patrol Force 1"
April 27, 2011 by Rodney Ho Adult Swims longest-running show Aqua Teen Hunger Force has lost its Teen Hunger after 100 episodes. The show, coming back May 8, is now going to be called Aqua Unit Patrol Force 1. Why? I spoke with the two creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro today and failed miserably when it came to getting a straight answer about anything. The show moves its four main characters Frylock, Master Shake, Meatwad and Carl from New Jersey to Seattle. Now with 20 percent more atittude, Willis said. We got tired of New Jersey, Maiellaro said. All three marry Courtney Love and move to Oklahoma City, Willis suggested. We dont know anything about Seattle except it rains, Maiellaro added. Were reintroducing America to what made them buy a TV in the first place, Willis said. We are so stoned, Rodney! Maiellaro said. We are quote machines, Willis said, triumphantly. The new name reflects the fact they will now fight crime, something the characters in the original version were supposed to do but abandoned early on. Whether they really will fight crime, who knows? We were told to keep the show in color, Willis notes. Are they still scarred by all the controversy in 2007 when people thought guerrilla ads in Boston were terrorist bombs? We miss that a lot, Maiellaro said. We feel we can open up and talk about it. Without getting in trouble, Willis added. Willis off-the-cuff idea to get more free publicity? Bring a harpoon gun into a public place and wave it around. Then, I can Tweet about it. http://blogs.ajc.com/radio-tv-talk/2...xntlid=sldr_hm |

I just wish the show doesn't jump the shark because of this.
I hope one day Adult Swim brings back the "Haqrvey Birdman"-ish shows again...though they put the caibash on that. (I had an idea for a show with Loopy de Loop in it and characters I made...that's why I wish this didn't happen...but hey...a guy can dream....) |
