Arrow MyNetworkTV February Sweep 2011 Programming

MyNetworkTV has released their full February sked which is more of the same. Viewers of the programming service will have some original programming on Tuesday nights which features back-to-back episodes of 'Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?' from 8-9 pm followed by two new episodes of 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' from 9-10 pm. For the month of February, MyNetworkTV has a week themed around pregnant moms-to-be and family nights.

I'm particularly enjoying the MyNetworkTV run of 'Burn Notice' which runs two episodes back-to-back every Wednesday evening. If MNT doesn't have the rights for Season 4 yet, their first encore run should be finishing up in mid-March.

For those of you who are looking to catch up on favourite episodes of classic series 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent', 'Burn Notice', 'Without a Trace' or 'Monk', here's the MyNetworkTV episodes skedded throughout the month of February 2010:

TUESDAY, FEBUARY 1, 2011
8:00 p.m. (Eastern/Pacific)/ 7:00 p.m. (Central): “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?” (U30335)

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy hosts this atypical game show that measures adults' lack of knowledge – as revealed by how much they've forgotten since grammar school. Grownups find themselves in a classroom setting, revisiting their youth, as they tackle subjects they were taught years ago ranging from art to geography and math to social studies. In “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?”, however, the players are not alone and there is a way for contestants to "cheat" in this classroom. The adults have the opportunity to get some help – in the form of elementary advice from real 5th graders who always seem to know more than the contestants.

Arrow 'Burn Notice' on MyNetworkTV

Grids from the network confirm that MyNetworkTV's encore run of 'Burn Notice' is for the first three seasons, and that the net doesn't have a fresh series to replace it with when the run ends in March.

The season three finale "Devil You Know" will air at 8 pm on Wednesday March 9, 2011 followed by episode 2 "Identity" at 9 pm. The following week, MyNet will start a second encore run of 'Burn Notice' commencing with the two-hour pilot.

All of the other MyNet encore series ('Law & Order: Criminal Intent', 'Without a Trace' and 'Monk') have yet to run their cumulated episodes.

Do you think MyNetwork will a)rebranded or b)bought by somebody? I dont think My Network has much legs to it left. I mean at least add a few shows or create some new shows. I mean what kind of identity does the channel have. I mean I might be in the minority on this opinion.

I doubt that News Corp will re-brand MyNetworkTV just yet, especially given the recent efforts to re-position MySpace away from being social networking to becoming more of an entertainment-oriented site. Eventually, MyNet and MySpace could synchronize efforts, although that's a way off.

As to getting rid of the network, I don't think News Corp will do that either, unless a sale could be brokered where it is packaged together with the high-priced MyNet owned-and-operated affiliates to go with it (i.e. WWOR-NY). The affiliates alone would command a very high price, and there's not much of an active market these days for broadcast properties.

Everything I've heard from MyNet suggests that they, and more importantly, the affiliates, are pleased with the ratings success of the syndicated programming services strategy, and certainly they will tell you that there is a better compatability with affiliate syndie programming than The CW affiliates experience with their network vs. affiliate programming.

We'll know soon as it is likely MyNet will do their upfront within the next week or two, and we'll see if they're planning to change their concept, or perhaps even enlarge it (going to six or seven nights perhaps).
