Default 50's sitcoms

Out of all the 1950's sitcoms, The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy has long gevity. These two classics has loyal followers, die hard fans. Most of the other 50's sitcoms are just too pre dated. What do you think it is that keep ILL and THM stand out from that decade of sitcoms and still relevant today?

Cool

Both ILL and THM have at their a heart a relationship between a husband and wife. That is very universal and rings true from one generation to the next. That's what makes these two shows timeless.

What about Father Knows Best, Leave It To Beaver, and Ozzie & Harriet?

They don't stand out like these two and they are pre-dated. Most histornions say that these two shows are models of most sitcoms. These two never been off the air. With the exception of LB alot of ppl in my generation never heard of these shows. They know about the honeymooners, ILl and three stoges

I enjoy The Honeymooners classic 39, but none of the other variations of the show. I've never got into I Love Lucy all that much, some episodes are funny but overall I'm not that impressed with it. Leave It To Beaver is still a great show, so is Amos N Andy. Father Knows Best is so-so. Most other 50's sitcoms are dated and don't play back very well today.

50's sitcoms, and 50's TV are a piece of history that should not be overlooked, whether they are dated or not. Thats my take.

I agree and the fact that some are dated is exactly why they are great. It's a look at another era.

All old TV shows are part of history. Inferior shows and shows that have become dated retain some nostalgic value.

The thread that I started was mainly about why the HM and Ill stands out over most 50's sitcoms and is still relevant today....
