Shakeup at the Top for 'Criminal Minds' Spinoff

The executive producer of the new "Criminal Minds" spinoff, Chris Mundy, has lost his job to veteran showrunner Ed Bernero, reports TV Guide.

Mundy, who wrote the pilot for "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," had never run a TV show before. On the other hand, Bernero has exec produced the original "Criminal Minds" since season two.

The spinoff is poised to be the first midseason replacement on CBS.

Variety reports that ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, the production companies behind “Suspect Behavior,” made the switch because they wanted something closer to the original.

"Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" will star Forest Whitaker, Matt Ryan, Janeane Garofalo and Beau Garrett. Bernero will remain with the original “Criminal Minds” while also heading the launch of the spinoff.

I just noticed that as well. I once saw a picture of Chris Mundy, and now I can say with complete certainty that he is not related to Ronald Mundy (first tenor for the group The Marcels).
