TV CBS Officially Cancels "Medium"

CBS Officially Cancels "Medium"
by Chris Harnick
posted Nov 18th 2010

CBS has canceled "Medium".

The news comes after CBS declined to pick up the back nine episodes, cutting the season to 13 shows.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will come to an end after a seven-season run on both NBC and CBS.

"It's true, Allison DuBois will dream her last dream on Fri 1/21," series creator Glenn Gordon Caron announced Thursday.

"In what we believe will be a series defining episode, Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink."

Patricia Arquette told Entertainment Weekly that the writers are excited to wrap up the series. "They're like, 'We're just going to burn the whole thing down!'

"It's been a great time,
" Arquette said. "I love that time in my life."

While the ratings for "Medium" have dipped, they're still stronger than many other shows that air on Friday nights. The most recent episode was seen by 6.8 million viewers.

I knew it was coming, but I'm still sad. Love that show.

i've watched the show from the beginning and I think they have managed to maintain a very high level of writing and keep the show fresh and entertaining, every episode has an original plot that hasn't been recycled from some other show and does a good job drawing the viewer in and keeping you entertained.

I will be sad to see the show go, but I know that it will go out with a strong finish, and its end has more to do with being scheduled in that tough Friday night spot and fickle viewers than the quality of the show.

The networks keep chopping away at the shows I watch. I am running out of things to watch on TV.

I'm wondering if Medium will be replaced by yet another reality show.

Honestly, the quality the show had really fallen off. I think if they had a bigger name involved with the series, it would have lasted a season or two longer just as the series "touched by an Angel" did when they brought in Valerie Bertinelli.

Maybe they'll make a series of Medium movies for Lifetime Channel or maybe the Hallmark network.
