‘Psych’ creator talks about possibility of movie
Sexual innuendos, David Bowie, obscure references ("Whisper," "Model Behavor"), Comic-Con costumes and pineapples reigned supreme at the panel for USA's veteran comedy "Psych." A special acoustic performance by Tears for Fears' Curt Smith and series stars Dule Hill and James Roday kicked it off, and a surprise performance by tap dancer Jason Samuels Smith and Hill bookended a fruitful event.
The common topic at all the USA panels was movies, and it was brought up again at "Psych." "If the demand were there, and if we could do it for the right price, then we would do it if we could," series creator Steve Franks said. After five years of playing best buds, what do Hill and Roday dislike most about each other? "He has very good hair, that's one. Axe makes very good products, (that's another)," Hill answered. "I've always admired Dule's ability to stay tan without any products," Roday deadpanned. Writer Andy Berman, who moderated the 60-minute panel, asked the duo a hypothetical question. If their characters, Shawn and Gus, were getting married, what would their respective best-man speeches be? " 'Tabitha, I'm sorry, Tammy? I've got bad news, Gus can't get married to you because he's already married to me,' " Roday revealed. Hill gave the packed Ballroom 20 crowd a glimpse: " 'I guess today is the day we all realize what a cold day in hell feels like and in the words of the great Arsenio Hall, there's a god somewhere!' " If Roday, "The Mentalist's" Simon Baker and "Castle's" Nathan Fillion were having an intimate dinner, what would they most likely discuss, Berman asked. "We would probably start something gentlemanly like martinis and maybe cigars," Roday said. "First topic of conversation would obviously be hair. We'd want to rank each other's hair, is what we'd want to do." Future guest stars include "CSI's" Adam Rodriguez, Vanessa Minnillo, Nestor Carbonell from "Lost" for an multiepsode arc and Chi McBride. Carbonell's character may put a wrench in a potential Juliet-Shawn hook-up in Season 5, according to exec producer Chris Henze. Franka Potente will appear in an episode penned by Berman. Roday will also be directing his third episode in a few weeks, Franks said. http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.co...html#more-4867 |
