I'm looking for information about a story I watched on Dateline NBC. I'm not sure when it aired, but I would guess it was some time in late 2007 or early 2008.
The story was about a man who was serving time for a series of rapes (possibly 2 or 3) that occurred in the early 80s. The year 1983 is stuck in my mind. However, I'm not sure if that was the year that the rapes were committed or the year of his conviction. I want to say this occurred somewhere up north, in either Connecticut or New Hampshire. The man was a member of a prominent family. I believe that the only real evidence that he was guilty was the testimony of the victims. He accosted them at night, on the street. The victims didn't know him prior to the rapes. He had served most of his sentence (25 years?) and was scheduled to be paroled. The focus of the story was mostly on the victims and their uneasy feelings about his impending release. The guy was interviewed and proclaimed his innocence. The segment really vilified him and the fact that he still hadn't accepted responsibility for the crimes. My wife wanted to hurl the remote through the TV whenever the guy spoke. However, I couldn't help but wonder if his story was ever checked out and if there could be any truth to his claims. Unfortunately, I can't remember the man's name. Does anyone know what case I'm talking about? I'd like to know the man's name so I can see if he's still in prison. |

This sure sounds like the Kevin Coe case. I found this for you but it may not be what you are looking for.
