TV Eddie McClintock Delves Deeper into "Warehouse 13"

Eddie McClintock Delves Deeper Into "Warehouse 13"
by Bryan Reesman
posted May 14th 2010

"Warehouse 13" became a breakout hit for Syfy last season, luring 2 to 3 million viewers per episode throughout its 12-episode run. Star Eddie McClintock, who plays federal agent Pete Lattimer, is stoked for season two, which starts July 13, and filled us in on what to expect.

A dramatic moment in the season one finale occurred when Warehouse 13's artifact caretaker Artie Nielsen (played by Saul Rubinek) appeared to have shuffled off of this mortal coil.

However, McClintock confirmed that Rubinek is returning for the next season; how or when Artie will return remains a mystery. But there's more in store.

"Next season we find out that there's a new supervillain," revealed McClintock.

While Roger Rees will be back as ex-Warehouse agent (and Artie's nemesis) James MacPherson, "There's a new supervillain to take his place, and it's so ingeniously thought out. When I read it, I thought it was so perfect for sci-fi fans. I think that although the scripts were strong last year, because they [the writers] have had more time to figure out what the show is, this year's scripts are really mind blowing.

We've read a few and heard the concepts, and it sounds like it's going to be pretty cool. I'm excited.
"

McClintock is also looking forward to delving into his character more.

"It was my wish that Pete would be an ex-Marine as a shout out to the people in the armed forces that are dying every day so that we can have an opinion about things," he declared.

"It was important for me that they got that in there. I think in the third or fourth episode [of season 2] they bring in the fact that Pete was a Marine. I think we're going to have to find out about why Pete is an alcoholic. I think that will be great to explore.

And Pete's relationship with Myka [Joanne Kelly] has become more relaxed. They're learning to enjoy one another because they've come to respect and really care for each other.
"

Despite his busy schedule, the actor did take a detour from fictional object hunting into real-life supernatural exploration when he made an appearance on "Ghost Hunters" last year, searching in vain for the ghost of Buffalo Bill.

Did his attitude toward the supernatural change after that experience? "I was a nonbeliever before and still am," he confessed.

"I'm open to it, don't get me wrong. Bring it on. I want to believe. I had a great time on that show."

Being on one of Syfy's hottest series is certainly keeping McClintock happy, especially given his past television history.

""Warehouse 13" was my 10th pilot and is my fifth network show, and it's the first one that has ever had any success," said McClintock, "so I'm loving it. I don't care what time they ask me to come to work. I'm just happy to be there, and it just so happens I get to work with cool people and have made a lot of good friends. It's been good."
