Unfortunately, I only had the second highest bid, so I won't be adding this to my collection. It's especially regretful, because the seller claims that this is a complete print; over 30 minutes long. The print on the official DVD release is edited and just over 24 minutes. In addition, the seller included some digital frame captures which seem to indicate this 16mm print has slightly different closing credits than the DVD and TVLand prints of "Matchless." I'd always thought that there was something strange about these closing credits. The actress Susan Seaforth appears in the credits, but I've never been able to spot her in the episode as it exists in current circulation, nor in the compilation movie "The Pill Caper." I can only hope that another print pops up sometime soon or that the guy who actually bought the film has it transferred to DVD and releases it into the collector's market. |

A big thanks to your review. I don't think I would have found out about the German release without it.
It is a pity an American release looks unlikely. I'd love to see the original opening in pristine condition. Uncut episodes could be a little unlikely so the German DVDs are the next best thing. And the music is great. Gerald Fried's underscore reminds me of so many Gilligan's Island episodes. Especially his Russian riff. And I can't stop humming the theme after I've watched an episode. Great memories. A scientist both wise and bold Set out to cure the common cold Instead he found this power pill Which he said most certainly will Turn a lamb in to a lion Like an eagle he'll be flyin' Solid steel will be like putty It will work on anybody But then 'twas found this potent pill Made the strongest men quite ill So the secret search began To find the one and only man What they found made them squeamish For only Stanley Beamish A weak and droopy daffodil Could take the special power pill That sent him soaring through the skies Fighting foes and fighting spies When he took the pill specific It made him the most prolific Terrific Mr. Terrific. |
