A horse is a horse, of course, and the most famous (well, only) talking horse is of course the famous Mister Ed! Following up from the first season release of Mister Ed from October, The Complete Second Season of Mister Ed brings the next 26 episodes of the famous series about a horse named Ed (voiced by Allan Lane) who talks to his owner, Wilbur Post (Alan Young). A talking horse may sound like a great idea, but in reality, all Ed ever does is cause trouble for Wilbur and his wife, Carol (Connie Hines).
The series began in 1961 without a network, airing in first-run syndication initially, but by the second season, which began in October 1961, Ed finally made it to the big time--he made it to network television courtesy of CBS. The show didn’t change much, though, if at all, as it still had the same premise and same characters. A horse is, of course, just a horse. Except this one can talk. I can't wait to get my hands on this DVD set. What a great list of guest stars in season 2. And it's great that every episode oin this set in unedited.

Alan Young had a lot of patience, being able to act with and pretending to carry on conversations with a horse for 5 1/2 seasons. He and the horse must have gotten along very well. Good to see the episodes are all uncut this time, but don't know yet if I'm going to buy this. The 1st season DVD having some edited episodes is an issue for me. I might wait awhile and see if the remaining seasons get released with all complete episodes before I make a purchase.

This is good news! I didn't notice edited shows on the first season. I am running out of room on my DVR lol. Seriously, I am going to get this one!
I am so glad this is released sooner than it was starting to appear to be. The 50th anniversary is coming up, and I was wondering if that was the cause of the delay? I'm glad Alan will be seeing this release! |

I've been having a great time watching season 2 of Mister Ed and recognizing the guest stars. In one episode Alan Hale Jr. (The Skipper) and Donna Douglas (Elly May Clampett) played a married couple. In another episode Raymond Bailey (Mr. Drysdale) played a lawyer and I almost didn't recognize him because he wasn't wearing his toupee! And then there was the one and only George Burns appearing as himself. I even spotted a child actor I recognized. A poorly behaved boy whose parents almost bought the Addisons house was played by Jimmy Garrett who was part of the cast of "The Lucy Show" as Jerry Carmichael.

Love the episode where Ed wants to be a dad. I just knew those apples of Rogers was doomed as soon as I layed eyes on them.
