If you're a horror fan and you live in Los Angeles, then chances are you've heard of Dark Delicacies, the best (and possibly) only horror specialty bookstore in America. Well, good ol' DD is about to relocate in the next few months. It turns out the store's landlord passed away in 2008, the lease expired shortly thereafter, and the building's current owners are ready to sell. Now Dark Delicacies' owner Del Howison is looking for a new location in the Burbank area. And to reduce the number of items he has in storage and help raise funds for the new store, DD is hosting a pre-moving sale this Sunday, February 21st -- and an online auction with some rare and exclusive items for horror fans. "What items?" you ask. "And what does all this have to do with Thomas Jane and pizza?" Find out after the jump.
For the next two weeks, you can bid on a copy of The Evil Dead Companion, signed by Bruce Campbell and the rest of the film's cast, or you can bid on dinner with 30 Days of Night creator Steve Niles. Or you can do what I'm gonna do and bid on the most awesome item of all: actor/director/comic book publisher Thomas Jane delivering a pizza of your choice to your house in the LA area. ("You might ask for a picture while he's delivering your hot pie!" says the item page.) This is the kind of bat****-crazy awesomeness I've come to expect from Jane, an incredibly nice guy and a true horror and comic-book-loving geek. Whether he's starring in an Emmy-nominated cable TV drama or not, Jane parties and maintains his own booth every year at the San Diego Comic-Con. He's one of us, just a little more macho. But he has no problem making fun of that macho image, especially when it's for a good cause like this. http://www.darkdel.com/ |
