I'll be the first one to predict, that this "gidget" movie never even gets made....the studio announces these things to get public reaction before a script is even finalized......for example....literally the "I Dream of Jeannie" movie has been talked about for 10 years with always the "in-star" portraying the title role, first it was Alicia Silverstone, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc.....never got off the ground....."Grease" has been talked about for years as well and now "The Wizard Of Oz".

As far as I know....
...there have been seven "Gidget"s over the past 50 years, in theatrical films and TV:
Sandra Dee (1959) Deborah Walley (1961) Cindy Carol (1963) Sally Field (1965-'66) Karen Valentine (1969) Monie Ellis (1972) Caryn Richman (1985-'87) And now, Miley Cyrus? Does SONY/Columbia want to extend some of her "Hannah Montana" magic to their "franchise"? Are they THAT desperate for the teen audience she attracts for Disney? Of course....

Snow, Efron, and pre-hippie 60s go together well as Hairspray would suggest. Meaning Miley wouldn't be at Disney [or Warner Brothers as they made Hairspray], but Columbia!! All they need is to do like Hairspray and set it when the original came out; just look at how many of their age loved that, and I did...I'd go with Amanda Bynes had this been done earlier..
