Talking Mr. Monk and the Three Pies

Hello, all.

I thought this was a particularly good episode. The mystery wasn't the greatest, but the other storylines were awesome, especially when Ambrose reveals why Trudy was at the parking garage when she got murdered. I started welling up! Monk never does that to me!

Really good episode.

~Lauren

I agree Monk is one of the best TV Shows and I also liked meeting his brother. Maybe his father will show up on a future episode.

Yeah, that would be awesome.

I think they should bring Ambrose back every once in a while, but not too much. I thought he was great, but his character seemed like he could be a better detective than Monk is, and we can't have that, now can we?

Oh I know, I thought it was so funny when he would contradict Monk. But as you said we can't have our Mr. Monk out smarted.
Wasn't the family portrait hilarious! LOL!!!

Only two new episodes into the new season and they are rerunning this episode. Interesting.

Is next week a rerun? It might be because of the 4th of July holiday.

The USA network's web site lists new episodes for each of the three weeks following this one so, yeah, the rerun is probably due to the holiday weekend. (They seem to be running a new episode of The Dead Zone on July 4th, however. )

I loved this episode but I can't help but get annoyed at the inherent contradiction that it presents.

We are initially told in the beginning of the series that Monk became uncontrollably OCD after his wife died, forcing him to leave the police department.

But with this episode we are told he was always like that since childhood.

So how the heck did Monk ever make it as a cop being like that? How did he make it through the police academy? How did ever apprehend or intimidate anyone?

If you want to say he was like that since a kid and got full blown after his wife's death, then fine. But at least tell us there was a point where he got over it and was able to act like a cop.

And then he lost it.

Wow, that's a great point. That never even crossed my mind.

I'm watching the rerun, and I just had to post this line.

Ambrose: "You don't know everything, Mr. Great Detective! Why aren't you out there looking for him (their father)?"

Monk: "Because I'm afraid I might find him."

I thought that was a great line that was really well-delivered by Tony.

This is one of my all-time favorite episodes if not my favorite. I LOVE that scene between Adrian and Ambrose where Ambrose tells Adrian that he's responsible for Trudy's death because he asked her to get him some cough medicine. Makes me emotional every time I watch it. Just brilliant acting. I read that this is Tony's favorite episode too.
