Default I Am A Western Fan, Is This A Gunslinger Type Show?

I pretty much love everything Western, but I wanted to know exactly what this show is.

I don't know much about Here Come The Brides but from what I get this is more of a light-hearted show. You don't watch this to be expecting something along the lines of HBO's Deadwood or Tombstone, right?

Cool

"Here Comes the Brides" was set in Seattle, Washington in the very earliest days of its history. The lumber industry was the only game in town and therefore the population of the town was made up almost entirely of men. So the lumber company brings in a boatload(literally) of women as potential brides for the lumberjacks. So the show is mostly about the relationships that develop between the men and the women as well as the day to day business of the lumber industry. So, no, not much gunslinging here. There was however, the occasional fist fight. I believe this show was based loosely on the broadway play "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".

No, it was more of a romance/comedy. It was not like Gunsmoke or The Rifleman, but enjoyable in its own way.

I have no idea what shows like Deadwood are like having never seen them. But this show is a good one & very interesting. And the best western out there...

I think that Deadwood was one of the best westerns and it's a shame it was gone after three seasons. Many people had issues with the constant use of swearing on the show. I don't mind it but even I can say this show had quite a lot of it.

I decided not to bother with Here Come The Brides. From what I have read and from what other members mentioned here it doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in.

Who knows.. I may watch it down the road sometime but I don't see it happening soon.

Default It isn't "DEADWOOD"....

...but it's closer to "BONANZA" than "GUNSMOKE", James. Very little gunplay, true, but there are good "character studies" and emotional moments. I believe you should see at least one episode. Might I suggest, "A Bride For Obie Brown"?
