According to advance reviews, 8 episodes are cut (Busy Wife, Kiddy Park, Stable for Three, Ed the Lover, The Pageant Show, The Aunt, Little Boy, and The Contest).

Which means about 70% of the episodes are uncut. For a show that's almost 50 years old that's no so bad.

LOL at your crazy logic. That's like saying I just bought a car and it only came with three wheels. It's no so bad because the Detroit auto makers are having a tough time and you can't expect four wheels in this bad economy

You do know there are TV shows that even older and all episodes are uncut? There is no reason to be using syndicated prints especially if you're claiming in advertising copy that the episodes are "complete". I'm surprised after all the TV dvds using syndicated prints and/or new music that there are still consumers out there willing to blindly accept such shoddy product.

Maybe they should just rename the set The Mister Ed 70% Complete First Season

I actually agree with the crazy logic, he said "not bad for a 50 year old show", now let's reverse the logic.....if you bought a 50 year old car and it had three wheels it wouldn't so bad would it? The DVD may be new but the material is not, it was cut up for syndication and treated poorly for 50 years like most vintage shows, now they are being preserved the best way they can be on sometype of shiny disc called a DVD in 2009!.....if the 1960 car had been ignored for 50 years but you could buy it all bright and shiny but was just missing a wheel, which really isn't a good example, but if it was drivable but had some minor defect, it would still be considered a good buy.....lets face it....less and less companies care about releasing vintage shows on these shiny DVD discs, so lets take what we can get as long as its not totally butchered.

I imagine they were not able to find uncut versions of some episodes, that's likely why a few episodes are edited versions. I think the studio probably did the best they could. I'm not a big Mister Ed fan, the talking horse gimmick is silly, although some episodes are funny.

Shout is pretty good about using uncut episodes so if they used syndicated prints for some episodes it is likely that the originals aren't around or in to poor condition.

My favorite series of all time is Green Acres, the first three seasons were released then nothing, I couldn't agree with you more. This is as good as it's going to get for Mr. Ed, if your a fan of the show I say buy it.
