The economy has done something that not even the Grim Reaper was able to accomplish: practically kill "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."
Though host Fred Rogers died six years ago, the show has continued on, daily, in reruns. However, PBS has told its member stations that reruns of the show will only be available once a week in the fall, not every day, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Daily reruns would be too expensive for PBS in this economic climate, Kevin Morrison, chief operating officer for Rogers' Oakland-based Family Communications Inc., told the paper. However, PBS has launched a freshened-up “Neighborhood” web site at PBSKids.org, which includes a section for fans to post their memories and photos of growing up with host Fred Rogers. http://community.post-gazette.com/bl...ers-again.aspx |

That's too bad, because it's such a wonderful show, but I understand their decision. Are these available on DVD? If not, they SHOULD BE! Every parent should buy these for their kids. Not only are they classics, but even I've learned a few things from them whenever I've caught an episode. Yep, I'm really admiting to still being a fan of Mr. Rogers!

I think it's a rotten move by PBS. Mister Rogers Neighborhood was one of the best kids show in the history of broadcasting and I feel they're not respecting the legacy of Fred Rogers by limiting stations to one show a week.
