I was watching a 48 Hours Mystery on the Tim Masters case which was featured on Cold Case Files. You may remember he was 15 and accused of killing and mutilating a woman, but not convicted until several years later. The main evidence was that the woman's body was found near his home and that the police found a knife collection and many disturbing drawings in Tim's bedroom.
Many of you know that Tim's conviction was overturned after 9 years, mainly based on the fact that evidence favoring Tim's innocence was never turned over to the defense. Also, defense investigators found male DNA on the body that did not match Tim (the victim's ex-boyfriend did match). Have there been any other cases featured on Cold Case Files that have been overturned? It seems hard to believe that police could work a case for so long and still get the wrong man, but clearly, it happens. Thoughts? |
