http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/20...eason-one.html

I can't believe I lived long enough to see it again; I loooooved that show as a teen !

I especially liked the one where they had to find info and would hid it form each other; in a certain amount of time.

Season 1 is 6 discs long; I've Blockbustered mine already !!!

It has come out! Last Tues the 7th. I got mine @ J&R. I never thought this delightful series would come out on DVD, but IT HAS! Thank you SHOUT! I've been watching the P.C. all week. I am so in DVD heaven.

The show has special meaning to me too as I work for young public interest lawyers. All are very sweet just got their JDs & passed the bar. One of our managers is a Harvard Law grad. I'm actually getting ready to watch an ep. now......

My tastes have changed from my teenage years so I've got it on my queue on Blockbuster.

I work near J & R; if I love the show, maybe I should buy it there!!!!

I remember watching the reruns of the CBS episodes on PBS, where there was talk at one time of trying to revive it on there.

I had never seen the show so this was a blind buy for me. I'm through about 5episodes so far and it's a really good show.

But you can't buy this DVD set. You have to earn it!!!

How can we earn it when all our minds are full of mush?

There are several episodes in the set that only run 46 minutes yet have superior picture quality. They are not syndicated versions but sped-up versions with the giveaway being that "The First Years" is in a higher pitch and the voices a bit too high as well.

It's always a good idea to check out J & R at least once a week. They're having a sale on all their DVDs but the sale ends Sat evening 4/18. The Paper Chase is normally $44.99 there but it's on sale til tomorrow for $38.99

I got Disc 2 first. The first episode is the one where the students go to prison to be advocates. the girl law student is obnoxious and whiney. i don't care for her character at all.

I think the point of the episode though is to show how her obnoxious air of self-righteousness comes back to bite her in the you-know-where. That happens later in the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" episode.

I find it nice that a show about the law could have degenerated into a political soapbox week after week, but thankfully that never happened in these S1 episodes (I can not say the same though of the Showtime episodes). Contract law is probably the one area of law least connected with hot button political issues, so that would mean the classroom would never focus on those kinds of issues and instead let us be more fascinated by the student-teacher relationship of Hart and the others to Kingsfield.

I'm in the middle of this ep. I had to turn it off to go to work. Also I had a feel there was going to be a dramatic twist. Gonna go and watch the rest of it. Anyhoo, after this one, I only have one lep left to watch - the one where Bell wants to chg his pic in Kingsfield's seating chart.

Logan does get carried away with the prisoner. Her self-righteousness was forgiveable in this ep. And it did bite her in the a$$ - but she learned her lesson in the end.

In the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" she was pretty snippy in the beginning but in the end felt bad that she had opened up a hornet's nest - all she had really wanted was to have an open dialogue - sadly it was her "gal pals" who stirred things up - seems like they were more interested in theatrics than in correcting a possible wrong. Esp. that incredibly rude one who kept interrupting The Chief Justice's speech. Let him state his case for God's sake & then if you don't like it heckle or boo him. (Still a bit rude but much better IMO).

I too am glad (and agree) the show focused more on the human element of student/teacher than politics. And Kingsfield is a fascinating character, superbly played by Mr. Houseman.

BTW, there's now a Paper Chase forum in Classic Dramas & Dramedies. Come check it out!
