Why is it the lead female character has mostly male friends? I'm not talking about her "conquests", but I'm talking about the fact that she's always hanging out with these two guys and she has one female friend and then her sister. Why doesn't she have a large group of girlfriends to talk to about all this stuff? Men are okay, but women friends are better at listening and understanding stuff.

Don't they live next door to each other? They may just be handy, when she needs to talk.

Why do the show producers decide to give her mostly male friends? If you ask me, there are entirely too many shows that feature prodominantly male casts with, like, one or two female characters in the mix, or shows where the lead female character only has one female friend but is combative with other women and gets along better with men. What message is this sending to women? Nothing against women having a few male friends here and there, but women should be friends with women. It's how we get by in life.

Here's my opinion & it's not based on how other TV shows are that have mostly male characters. The main character Bella's personality seems to me like the tomboy (not physical appearance, but her personality). She's like the simple, casual type who probably has more male friends than female friends. So, this character she plays seems perfect to have mostly male friends. Plus, in real-life, more females have more male friends than people think.
On a different note, I'm still trying to see if I like this show to continue watching. So far, it's ok, but if it gets cancelled, I won't be crying about it. |
