Leah Remini's 'In the Motherhood' Gets Picked Up by ABC - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

ABC has picked up "In the Motherhood" to series.

The network has handed out a 13-episode order to a comedy based on MindShare's Internet series of the same name.

ABC Studios is producing the ABC series, which will be written by Jennifer Konner and Alexandra Rushfield.

The two are exec producing with Stu Bloomberg and MindShare's David Lang and Peter Tortorici.

The project is now casting. Suave and Sprint, which partnered with MindShare for the Web series, will also be involved in the TV series.

The Internet series, which runs on the MSN-hosted site www.inthemotherhood.com, stars Leah Remini, Jenny McCarthy and Chelsea Handler in stories generated by real-life moms.

"Motherhood" was one of handful of projects in the works for midseason that ABC showcased at its upfront presentation in May.

The order for "Motherhood" comes on the heels of ABC picking up five new series last month, one-hours "Castle," "The Unusuals" and "Cupid" and comedies "Better Off Ted" and "Single With Parents."

"A recent article came out saying that ABC has picked this show up for 13 episodes and they have cast it with Cheryl Hines, Megan Mallally and Chelsea Handler. I don’t want you all to think that it was my show. I did it on the net and that was that. ABC bought the rights and decided to go forward with it. I hope the show goes as I think it is a great concept. I guess people are confused and thought it was my show and were confused about why I wasn’t in it. I wanted you to know that there is nothing weird about it. I just ‘aint in it!"
